Welcome to the website of Vrachtfiets, an innovative spin-off from the Technical University Delft (TU Delft). Vrachtfiets is passionate about effectuating sustainable solutions, and develops innovative modes of transport based on cycling technology. 

As a mode of transport for short-range distances, cycling technology scores on all fronts. With the increasing traffic in city centres, transportation by car is on average no longer quicker than cycling. A bicycle has the important advantages of producing no emissions and no noise and can be flexibly deployed in the city centre because of its small size and high maneuverability. With the emerging trend in electrical assistance, the possibilities of cycling-based transportation get greatly enhanced.

Keeping in mind that 65% of all bicycle rides in the Netherlands amount less than 5 km and that the average volume transported is less than 1m3, one could imagine the potential of an electrically assisted bicycle. And, perhaps the most important factor, everyone can learn to cycle!

Vision

The bicycle as transportation vehicle, combined with innovative transport systems, is a suitable solution for today's transport problems.

Solutions

A good product is important, but it is no guarantee for an improved overall system. We look for opportunities to realise more efficient and sustainable transport flows through the use of new bicycles. As Industrial Product and Service Designers, we are qualified to successfully establish, develop, and implement such a product-service approach for our clients.
